Wild and Majestic shop

The Wild and Majestic shop is now open at the National Museum of Scotland. Inspired by the exhibition, we’ve curated a truly Scottish collection of souvenirs and gifts, from luxury cashmere tartans from Edinburgh’s own Kinloch Anderson, to fragrant soaps milled in the Scottish Borders, and handcrafted jewellery from Perthshire to chocolates made in Glasgow. Our accompanying exhibition book is available at the museum and online.

Our landmark summer exhibition, Wild and Majestic, opens next Wednesday 26 June at the National Museum of Scotland.

From the Romantic movement of the 18th and early 19th centuries to Queen Victoria’s beloved Balmoral, discover how romantic interpretations of the Scottish Highlands and Islands became enduring symbols of wider Scottish identity through Highland and military dress, royal visits, art, music, literature, and the beginnings of the Scottish tourism industry.

Featuring rich displays and iconic objects, the exhibition invites you to think again about the meaning and relevance of ideas that continue to define Scotland today.
