Creative Scene Woven in Film, 8 and 15 July and The Chef Show, 19 June

With details of upcoming performances and more:

Comedy and curry arrives at Hanging Heaton Cricket Club on Wednesday 19th June

THE CHEF SHOW

Meet Aba and Beta – a father and son with very different ideas of how to run the family restaurant, Abdul’s.

They are the stars of The Chef Show - part sketch show, part comedy play, which brings to life all the characters you'll know from a typical Saturday night at your local curry house.

And expect rumbling bellies with your belly laughs, as Aba and Beta will be joined on stage by a chef from our very own Lala's in Batley, who will be cooking up a delicious curry on stage which you can taste after the show.

You'll receive a proper warm Yorkshire welcome from Hanging Heaton Cricket Club, who celebrated their victory in the National T20 competition last year. Why not get a gang together and make an evening of it with our four for £20 ticket deal?

A guaranteed great night of curry and comedy, The Chef Show is by BBC Radio Leeds presenter Nick Ahad and has won two awards for best touring show.

Do you like to be beside the seaside?

We hope you had a great bank holiday weekend! Here at Creative Scene we're getting ready for our pop-up screenings of Woven In Film, and we'd love for you to come along.

As part of Woven, we will host Ripping Yarns and Kirklees Through Textiles, a series of free pop-up short film screenings at Brigantia in Dewsbury and Area Rugs & Carpets in Mirfield on the 8th and 15th June 2019.
Ripping Yarns is a series of short tales from the Kirklees textile trade by Alistair I Macdonald which explore the innovative businesses in Kirklees who are pioneering practices such as recycling unwanted clothes in order to generate electricity, using digital technology to push the boundaries of textile design and recycling denim to soundproof cars.
Kirklees Through Textiles, a cornucopia of local historic films curated by Chris Squire, will follow Ripping Yarns. The short films from the 1900s to present day, include rare footage of workers leaving a Dewsbury mill at the beginning of the 20th century, a vivid portrait of post-war family life and the forgotten story of Schofield and Smith’s mill in Slaithwaite (and the artist who salvaged material from it after it burned down).

Tickets are free (and you'll need to book here) and the screenings will last around 1hour 45mins. Refreshments willl be provided.

We can't wait to share these films about our local area with you - see you there!
