The response to our new Monthly Micro competition has been brilliant. We received 71 entries for the first competition and have whittled them down to a longlist of 23. We're whittling away still and a shortlist of 10 stories will be published in a blog on Monday along with voting buttons for you to help choose the winner. The two stories with the most votes win the prizes and the next comp prompt will go live on 1st July. The more entries we get the bigger the cash prize for the story with most votes. The June winner will be getting £142, published in the flash fiction area of the website, and a free entry to the annual RW Flash Fiction Prize, which has over £700 in cash prizes available to the top 10 stories. There's just a couple of weeks left now to get your entries in for the latest themed flash comp - send us your windy stories by 30th June to be in with a chance of winning up to £400 in cash. The deadline to submit stories to appear in our latest charity anthology is also 30th June. This year we're helping Indigo Volunteers. Get all the info here. We just donated the royalties to Hestia for the first 5 months of sales of The Word For Freedom during their donation matching scheme so our £462 has been doubled to £924. Plus we gave Hestia 20 paperback copies to sell themselves and with the money they made from those, we have raised over a £1000 already. Amanda Saint is raising money to help low-income writers that can't afford to learn and dedicate time to developing their fiction. She will be donating mentoring, writing retreats and courses through Retreat West  if she can raise enough funds.
