SILLY HISTORY BOYS

12th - 16th August

The Silly History Boys are back with fully interactive shows delving into the silliest (and most gory) parts of medieval history!

 

RAPHAEL HISTORIC FALCONRY
17th - 19th August

Join Raphael Historic Falconry for their breathtaking displays and hear all about the popularity of hunting with birds in the medieval period as their beautiful birds soar around the castle grounds.

 


LONGBOW DEMONSTRATION

19th - 22nd August

Our Master Archer, Andy Rice is back to demonstrate the skill and technique of a medieval English longbow!

 



SELECT SOCIETY

20th - 22nd August

Enjoy a pair of interactive family-friendly shows all about royalty in the Middle Ages. Decide who was best at reigning in ‘Good King, Bad King, Sad King’, or play an important royal role in ‘A Royal Coronation’!

BOOK TALK WITH IAN MORTIMER
Thursday 29th August, 4pm & 7:30pm


We are delighted to welcome acclaimed medieval historian and author Ian Mortimer for afternoon and evening events, as the next guest in our Book Talk lineup. Ian will be speaking about The Time Traveller's Guide to Medieval England at 4pm and Medieval Horizons: Why the Middle Ages Matter at 7:30pm.
 
Learn some essential facts in case you find yourself visiting the Medieval period, and how the Middle Ages weren't quite so dark as we might think!

Please note: If you are visiting the castle that day, you are welcome to join the 4pm event free of charge. Please show your castle Admission Ticket at the door.

The 7:30pm talk is a separate, ticketed event.
