NEWS

The Leeds Jazz Festival 2023

Leeds Jazz Festival returns for it’s second year from 25 - 30 May 2023. The event aims to unite and celebrate the musicians, venues, promoters, audiences and organisations who are part of the Leeds Jazz tapestry - whilst showcasing the best of local, national and international music.

The Domino is kicking off the festival in style with new wave dancefloor instrumentalists Snazzback.
The 7-piece embrace their Bristol beginnings to create a sound fusing abstract beats with spiralling improvisation.
Their music is soaked in influences including interlocking West African rhythms, rootsy Brazilian flavours, sprawling soundscapes, deep dubstep basslines and flickering arpeggiators. A collaborative instinct runs through the group, and an eclectic choice of vocalists and MCs keeps their compositions shimmering in unexpected ways.

Snazzback’s electrifying chemistry has wowed audiences at Ronnie Scott’s, festivals such as Glastonbury, Boomtown & Shambala and gained support from BBC radio heavyweights including Gilles Peterson, Jamz Supernova and Jamie Cullum.

The first wave of tickets are available directly from the Leeds Jazz Festival, head to:
www.leedsjazzfestival.com/thursday-25-may/snazzback

Square Chapel Oversight Board Recruitment

We are looking to appoint a new Oversight Board for Square Chapel that will help us achieve our ambitious goals for Halifax and West Yorkshire and deliver on Arts Council England’s “Let’s Create” strategy.

In Autumn 2022 Square Chapel successfully secured funding from Arts Council England’s 2023-26 Investment Round, and will be joining the National Portfolio of Organisations from April 2023.

Arts Council England’s National Portfolio of Organisations [NPOs] includes hundreds of creative and cultural organisations across the country. Each one receives three years of investment to ensure that people and communities everywhere can benefit from access to creativity and culture in line with their 2020-30 strategy, “Let’s Create”.

Between 2023-2026 Square Chapel will receive a total investment of £477,000 (£159,000 per year) to continue collaborating with the community to deliver a wide range of creative and cultural activities across Halifax and Calderdale.

As part of the funding requirements, a voluntary Oversight Board will work closely with Square Chapel’s Senior Management Team. This Oversight Board will play a key role in ensuring that Square Chapel is delivering on its organisational goals and programme activity funded by Arts Council England.

Deadline Thursday 16th March.

St Patrick's Day Beer

Happy St Patrick's Day

Hi,

On March 17th, the whole world momentarily becomes Irish.

Named for the most famed of Ireland’s three patron saints, St Patrick’s Day is a day to reflect on all things Irish, from pints of Guinness and phenomenal rainbows to Donegal tweed and folklore.

We’re celebrating this St Patrick’s Day by launching our interactive beer tool. Love a good pint but want to make sure you find your favourite? Put in your beer preferences, and we’ll match you with the Irish brews that best align with your tastebuds.

Dear

We hope you're well, and are looking forward to the days lengthening and brightening in the coming weeks. With that in mind, we're pleased to share with you the dates and locations for our series of Spring-time guided walks on the Jurassic Coast.

These walks are led by our experienced and knowledgeable Ambassadors, and provide a great insight into the World Heritage Site's array of stories. They also provide a brilliant opportunity to blow out the cobwebs, to get some fresh air and to discover new places along the coastline.

We're also able to offer early release tickets for our two boat trips a little later in the year - you can see all the details and booking links for those below.
