Creative Coalition
Festival is back again today, with over 20 sessions across three
stages, centred on the cutting-edge trends, technologies, markets and
models for creative businesses. We’ll be hearing from the futurists,
creative organisations and entrepreneurs who are staying ahead of the
curve.
We kick off at 10am
with State of the Nation, looking at the challenges facing us over the
next year. Chaired by author, economist and broadcaster, Dharshini
David, the panel includes Gillan Tett – editor-at-large for Financial
Times and Sir Peter Bazalgette – Co-Chair of the Creative Industries

Author, economist
and broadcaster, Dharshini David discusses inclusive growth and the
greatest challenges facing us over the next 12 months. She’ll be joined
by journalist, author and anthropologist Gillan Tett, one of the few
people to have successfully predicted the 2008 crash, and Sir Peter
Bazalgette, TV executive and Co-Chair of the Creative Industries
Council.

Hour of
breakbeatcode: Learn How to Create Music with Code
Thursday 2 March,
3-3.50pm
Learn to code
through the power of music production.Work with a digital audio
workstation, a library of samples, and a Python interpreter, learning
to build your own beats through writing Python code. No prior coding or
music experience is required. Within less than an hour, you will have
remixed your first music track with your new coding skills.

Today we’ve
hosted some incredible speakers and performers. Our sessions have
explored the power of creativity to change the world in A Case for
Creativity and Ideas to Save the World. We heard from The Rt Hon Lucy
Frazer KC MP, Secretary of State for Culture, and from Sir
Ian Livingstone CBE - one of the founders of the UK games industry. We’ve been inspired and
entertained by the creative talents of
musician, Lola Young, poet and writer, Hollie McNish and beatboxing
from our amazing host, KIMMY beatbox.
We
hope to see you again at 10am tomorrow when the festival continues.
