Every morning starts with coffee and reading. I
wake up eager to read what writers around the world have got to say.
It's
not easy to carve out time to write, I know that writers need time
and space to express themselves in their writing, and they need
feedback to check it's worth
the pain and effort of giving up other things to invest that
time. They also want to find a readership but first they need to
learn how to edit their
book,
to pitch their idea, and
to meet agents.
Ten years ago, Kirsty
Mclachlan and I (Jacq Burns) set up London Writer's club to help
writers express what they want to say and to find a readership for
their writing. We think writing is important for
life, the universe and everything and hope to keep going
for another ten years and longer. Anyway we hope to see more of
you this year. Here are some ideas for how London Writers' Club can
help you in 2019.
LWC Events 2019:
In London in April, we have the Bestseller
Mentorship for non-fiction writers.
With
bestselling author John Williams and I, we get your concept and book
proposal sorted along with a simple marketing plan to get you platform
building. It's not too late to join the next intake. And you
can ask me for a special
LWC members' price.
The
graduating workshop day for both Bestseller programmes gives you
an exclusive opportunity to pitch to a leading agent in a private
session.
Retreats
In May, I'm leading
a Swiss mountain Write and Relax Retreat, created for people to relax, forget work and
home and just write. With great organic food, gentle yoga, a
hammam and a natural swimming pool and me to guide your writing,
you'll come away refreshed with some seriously creative thinking and
writing done.
Puglia, Italy - join me there in September
for a peaceful seafront Write
a Bestseller retreat with the best
food you'll get on a retreat.
One-to-One
If
group work isn't your thing then get in touch to
find out more about one-to-one
work. We offer Skype or Zoom
sessions and face-to-face sessions.
And last but not least, here
are the up-and-coming literary
agent speakers for our Spring/summer LWC
Live events:
April 23: Zoe Plant of the
Bent Agency
May 21: Kate Barker of the
Kate Barker Literary, TV & Film Agency
June 18: Emma Finn at the

We wish you all the best in
making time to write and express yourself today,
Jacq Burns & Kirsty
Mclachlan
