Here is the latest newsletter with details of upcoming poetry events:

Hello,
The season
is busy stealing golden leaves from the trees whilst jumpers are
retrieved and plans are made for the approaching chilly
evenings. And because the Mslexia Women's Poetry Competition 2023
is now open
we've scheduled some opportune events in our Salon
- all free for members. So if you're a poet hoping to become £2,000
richer from a single poem, or are keen to see your pamphlet
published by Bloodaxe Books then you should consider joining us
there.
The
Salon is our members-only area, located on our
website, where you gain access to our Agent Extravaganza,
expert-led workshops, weekly write-ins, community forum boards, and
the entire back catalogue of digital events. It's where Mslexia
readers can congregate in the company of women with the same shared
interest - writing.
So get your cosy socks out, put the kettle on and join us this
autumn. Coming up we will be hosting:
Imagery:
the heart of the poem | 9 October, 5-7pm via Zoom
Kris Johnson, poet, editor and creative writing tutor, explores the
role and power of imagery through discussion and exercises designed
to help you write poems that draw your reader in.
Organisation
to Submission: A Poetry Pamphlet Workshop | 19
October, 5-7pm via Zoom
Alison Binney, winner of our 2020 Poetry Pamphlet Competition,
joins us in the Salon for a workshop that will cover the journey
from wondering whether or not a pile of poems might work as a
pamphlet, through to submission.
Narratives
of Family and History | 1 November 5-7pm via
Zoom
Jennifer Lee Tsai is a fellow of The Complete Works and a Ledbury
Poetry Critic. Her work features in the Bloodaxe anthology Ten: Poets of the New
Generation and she is a Contributing Editor at Ambit. She
will be leading a workshop exploring narratives of family and
history.
Poetry and
Ekphrasis: Reading and Poetry Workshop | 13
November 5-7pm via Zoom
Linda France is a British poet, writer and editor. She has
published eight full-length poetry collections and a number of
pamphlets and was editor of Sixty
Women Poets. She joins us for a reading and workshop on
poetry and ekphrasis.
We try our best to remain accessible so the Salon is only £12 for
the whole year on top of a subscription. That's less than you'd pay
for ONE workshop somewhere else! We are very proud of this space so
join our community of women writers and give yourself the best
chance of becoming our next poetry competition winner!
