Hear our 2023 Writers’
Award winners read their work at our showcase event, hosted by Wayne Holloway-Smith
and Nina Mingya Powles.
The culmination of the 2023 Creative Future
Writers’ Award takes place at the Southbank Centre as
part of the London Literature Festival on Friday 20 October at 7.30 pm.
Twelve winners
were selected by poet Wayne Holloway-Smith and poet/essayist Nina
Mingya Powles, alongside judges Jennifer Kerslake from Curtis
Brown Creative, Joey Connolly at Faber Academy, Maryam Hessavi
from Poetry School and Aki Schilz from The Literary Consultancy.
At this event, the winning
writers will read their work alongside the hosts and CF’s 2023
Regional Writers In Residence—an exciting showcase of new and
emerging voices.
The winners will receive
£20,000 in cash and development prizes from leading literary
partners, long-term support, and publication in an anthology
which debuts at the event.

publishers and literary professionals share hints, tips and
initiatives in a day of talks and panel events.
Saturday 21 October sees the return of our FREE Writers’ Day,
as part of the London Literature Festival. Whether you are just
starting out or have been writing for years, this event is the
perfect opportunity to gain inside insight from literary
professionals that could help advance your writing career.
Join us for three panel
events with Q&As:
From Page to Publication: four Creative Future Writers’ Award winners on
their journeys as underrepresented writers to becoming published
writers. Featuring poet/young adult author Lisette Auton, poets
Day Mattar and Rhiya Pau, and novelist Tom Newlands.
Getting your poetry published: featuring Anthony Anaxagorou (Out-Spoken), Amy Acre
(Bad Betty Press), Jane Commane (Nine Arches Press), and Helen
Eastman (Live Canon). Hosted by Sally Carruthers (Poetry School).
Agents & publishing panel:giving you insider knowledge on acquiring
representation and demystifying the publishing process, featuring
Amy Baxter (formerly of Dialogue Books), Leodora Darlington
(Owned Voices), Clara Foster (Aevitas) and Jonathan Ruppin (The
Ruppin Agency).
The event also sees a
literary fair take over the Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer, with
leading literary organisations and publishers exhibiting their
work and welcoming chats with all attending, including Poetry
Society, The Writing Coach, Society of Authors, the Royal Society
of Literature, Out-Spoken, Bad Betty and Nine Arches Press.
