Running now until the 8th of October:
Hello,
Today, as we kick off Birmingham Literature Festival
with our first day of events, we wanted to recognise National
Poetry Day.
Poetry has the power to unite people and
communities. Poetry acts as a vehicle in exploring one's identity
and the identity of others, creating greater understanding between
people. It's also the most common way of encountering and engaging
with ethnically diverse authors within the curriculum.
Join us today, National Poetry Day, for an exquisite
performance of Liz
Berry's novel-in-verse Home
Child. Later in the festival, improve your poetry writing
skills at one of our workshops with Naush
Sabah and Rebecca
Goldsmith.
We look forward to seeing you at the festival from
today today. You can browse the full programme on our
website.
See you very soon,
The Birmingham Literature Festival Team
