Verdi, Puccini and Purcell       This autumn, Opera Goes Green! Verdi’s irreverent comedy Falstaff, Puccini’s musical rom-com La rondine, and Masque of Might, a newly-created climate fantasy piece from Sir David Pountney will take to the stage from Sep – Nov.   Sustainability is built into the fabric of all three productions, from the very first designs to the final curtain, whether we're reusing props, updating our lighting rig, or taking fewer lorries on the road. We're making changes across the whole of our company, and you can get involved too!         E-tickets and digital programmes   We work in a paperless office, give or take a few sheets, but what about in the theatre?   It’s easy to choose ‘e-tickets’ at the online checkout and now we’ve added the opportunity to buy and download a digital programme for just £4. Just remember to charge up your phone before you come to the performance!     Eco-entertainment: Masque of Might   Don’t miss the world premiere of a witty new recycled opera using some of Henry Purcell's greatest music. Expect a unique performance of song, dance and spectacle, telling a resonant story for our times.   Taking place on a repurposed set, featuring re-used costumes and props, Sir David Pountney’s “17th-century variety show” is the star of Opera North’s Green Season.       Our sustainable new menu at Kino   Kino’s new Head Chef Josh Whitehead is passionate about Yorkshire produce.    A big exponent of nose-to-tail cooking which helps minimise waste by using the whole animal, he can also be found foraging around his local area for wild herbs and plants to add flavour and interest to his dishes.      Travel company discounts   It might come as a surprise that one of the largest contributors to our environmental impact is the transport choices audiences make coming to and from the theatre.    We’ve negotiated some great Green Season deals with bus companies across the region to help you ditch your cars and go greener!     8 ways we're putting the planet centre-stage   Find out what else we're doing to help the planet, bit by bit.      Not sure where to sit?
