Dear, I had a snoop round London’s newest luxury hotel, 1 Hotel
Mayfair, last week. Billed as London’s most sustainable place to
stay and standing just opposite the Ritz (so its location couldn’t be
smarter), it certainly doesn’t shirk on comfort and design either. From the
lobby’s stunner of a centrepiece – a Patrick Nadeau-designed chandelier
created with air plants – to the reception desk fashioned from a fallen
Sussex tree, nature takes centre stage in all its tangible glory. It feels
like a breath of fresh air in the hotel scene – both literally and
figuratively. With its cool programme of events and an interest in getting to
know its local community (group dog walks, anyone?), I plan to hang out there
