Cleckheaton Writers Group minutes, meeting Monday 3 July 2023

Cleckheaton Writers Group (CWG) met on Monday at Cleckheaton Library with Gemma, Karen, Kathy and Michelle in attendance, Alice, Reuben, Cassie and Paul having given their apologies.

The minutes were passed from the previous meeting.

WIP updates: Karen has started Dream Author, been editing and applied for a creative job. Kathy has been working on research for her church for heritage open day. Gemma has started a Curtis Brown course and been editing. Michelle has been working on new ideas to develop her character for her Ryan MS.

CW comps/workshops/events: Bradford Literature Festival and Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Festival, Harrogate

Feedback sessions: Karen shared the first fully edited chapter of Christmas Evie, her romantic comedy due for digital publication later in 2023. It was well received and members requested to hear more at a future meeting as she ran out of time to finish reading chapter two out.

There was a discussion on various writing packages and apps including Scrivener, Apple pages/numbers, Scribe and the Microsoft Word app.

Writing plans: Karen will be editing and continuing Dream Author. She will consider taking part in CampNaNo. Kathy will be working on articles for the church. Gemma will be editing and continuing the CBC course. Michelle will be working on her Ryan MS.

Writing Challenge: The CWG members decided that the theme for July should be Independence.

The next meeting will be held on Monday 17 July at 5.30pm in Cleckheaton Library. New members always welcome.
