Library Adventures - 6th April 2022

WOW! Said the Owl

WOW! Said the Owl

Kirklees Libraries are excited to announce the launch of a family-friendly exhibition at Cleckheaton Library on 9th of April.

The exhibition is based on the much-loved children’s book, Wow! Said the Owl by Tim Hopgood. The exhibition has been specially designed by Tim Hopgood and The Young Art Explorers team to appeal to families and especially under five-year-olds, with lots of sensory and interactive elements.

In the book, a little owl stays awake during the day for the first time and is amazed by all the colours she sees, ‘Wow! Said the Owl as white fluffy clouds floated across a bright blue sky’. The exhibition seeks to give children the same sense of wonder and amazement by introducing them to colours and inviting them to be creative by playing with shapes, puppets, costumes and drawing”

Please join us for the launch!  on Saturday 9th of April at Cleckheaton Library.

Find out more on our Kirklees Libraries website.

Book Review

Get Up, Stand Up! Book cover

Get Up, Stand Up

By Bob Marley

Kate has reviewed this book for us and said:

"Oh my gosh! I just LOVE the beautiful, colourful illustrations (from John Jay Cabuay) in this book and it's so great to see multicultural representation. The book sees one of Bob Marley's iconic songs brought to old and new audiences alike, in book form! I love Bob Marley, so I was onto a winner from the start, but equally I've shared this book friends who aren't particular fans of his music...but they are all fans of this book, it's glorious imagery and it's strong message about standing up for yourself, your friends, and what’s right.

The is no recommended age for this book, other than all ages!"
