March News from Slung Low We're really excited to be over in Manchester this month working with the brilliant Rani Moorthy who runs Rasa Theatre. Rehearsals are going brilliantly well and it’s really exciting to be creating a show to be performed in a Sari shop! 'Handlooms' explores the generational conflict between Rajesh and his mother who are both seeking conflicting solutions to a crisis in their sari business. An exciting and immersive theatrical experience set in a real sari shop in the heart of Curry Mile. It performs 12th-24th March and you can take a look at details here. It also performs in April in Leicester and info is here. Back in Holbeck we are hosting a fundraiser at The HUB for our friends Yorkshire Aid on Friday 16th March. Join us for an evening packed with live music from the excellent Commoners Choir and big band Les Vegas and the International Playboys of Rhythm with a lively ceilidh to round off the evening led by  the Greensleeveless ceilidh band. Make sure you reserve your ticket in advance and bring along your best dancing shoes! On Tuesday 6th March we welcome the return of our weekly HUB choir sessions. Come along for some hot grub, weekly singing workshops and an opportunity to meet some very lovely people. It's all free and you can sign up here. Also this month at The HUB we have a full line up of excellent Pay What You Decide performances. You'll need to act fast to book for Uncanny Theatre's OUTRAGE this Sunday (4th March) and BEST OF BE FESTIVAL (Saturday 10th March) with only a handful of tickets left between them. Proto-type Theatre's THE AUDIT (or Iceland, a modern myth) visits the HUB on Sunday 11th March; a show about finding strength, overcoming a world designed to keep us docile, and how collective power can move a mountain – even if only a little. Rounding off the month is LEAVING from Curious Monkey on Sunday 25th March which tells the real stories of care leavers and their experiences at the pivotal moment when they leave care. It also gives a voice to those working in the system – from staff in children’s homes to MPs and policy makers.
