Ilkley Literature Festival Inspires Independent Film
Ilkley
Literature Festival is hitting the big screen as the setting for a
new independent film staring Derek Jacobi, Roger Allam and Anna
Maxwell Martin.
‘Ilkley’, which starts filming this week, is a black comedy
directed by Harry Michell, who also co-wrote the script with Jamie
Fraser. ‘Ilkley’ is the follow up to Michell’s critically acclaimed
debut Chubby Funny.
The film which is set at a fictional version of Ilkley Literature
Festival focuses on two hapless evangelicals tasked with killing
the world’s most controversial secularist.
Rachel Feldberg, Festival Director said:
‘We are very excited to be working with the ‘Ilkley’ team. Harry
Michell and Producer Helen Simmons came to us last year while still
in the early stages of writing and planning the script and it has
been wonderful to see how the project has grown and developed in
that time.'
‘Supporting new and emerging writers has always been a core part of
our work at the Festival and it is great to be able to see that
work come to fruition in such a big way. Harry and Jamie’s
hilarious script is combined with the stellar cast of talented
British actors and we can’t wait to see the finished film.’
We will keep you up to date with all the latest news as filming
continues.
