5 Things to Do This Weekend

Happy Thanksgiving to all our American readers! Let us help you celebrate in style with our list of the best spots in London for a Thanksgiving meal. As Christmas draws closer, it's time to start getting into the festive spirit with help from Sadler's Wells, Kew Gardens and Highgrove.

Culture vultures should head to Tate Modern this weekend where the long-awaited Modigliani exhibition has just opened, followed by a delicious meal at one of the best Italian restaurants in London – each tried and tested by our resident Italian for ultimate authenticity.

Get in the Festive Spirit!

The Snowman at Sadler's Wells
Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman is still a thrilling suspension of disbelief for children, a contemporary classic and irresistible at Christmas.
Sadler’s Wells will be packed with the soaring melodies of Howard Blake’s inimitable score. Until 31 Dec

Christmas at Kew
The Royal Botanic Gardens Kew transforms into a winter wonderland once again, with various shows, installations and events for all the family. With over 1 million twinkling lights, it’s nothing short of completely magical! Until 1 Jan

Christmas Shopping at Highgrove

Receive the royal treatment as The Prince of Wales welcomes you to Highgrove, his private estate, for a spot of Christmas shopping with a glass of fizz in hand. Hosted in the Orchard Room, you’ll find unique gift ideas from the estate. Make a day of it and book in for a two-course lunch. 22 Nov – 17 Dec.

Try London's Best Italian Restaurants

Bocca di Lupo, Soho
This fabulous restaurant in Soho has won numerous accolades since opening in 2008 for its menu of constantly-changing Italian regional specialities. One highlight is the pasta with raw duck egg, parmesan and white truffle. Full review here.

Popolo, Shoreditch
Head to trendy Shoreditch this weekend for food that you'll struggle to forget. Combining Italian, Middle Eastern and Moorish cuisines, standout fusion dishes include grilled octopus with smoky baba ghanoush. Read our full review here.

Modigliani Exhibition Opens at Tate Modern

Get down to Tate Modern for the opening weekend of the long-awaited Modigliani exhibition. The 20th century’s most strikingly original painter of nudes, Modigliani’s works were banned in his lifetime. Contemporaries were shocked by his brazen approach to the female form.

Paintings of his friends and lovers have been assembled from across the globe this winter at Tate Modern to display his unique talent. 23 Nov – 2 April.

Check out our list of the best exhibitions currently in town here.
