November, 8pm, it's Strange Face - Adventures
With A Lost Nick Drake Recording. Writer /performer, Michael
Burdett discovered the recording in a skip in the 1970s and
some 30 years later decided to share it in an extraordinary
way. The result is a quirky, funny and poignant award-winning solo
show, a celebration of life, coincidences and the legacy of

On Sunday 19
November 7.30pm, 21 amazing local singers in Miscast Concert – Right
Song Wrong Singer! Working with award-winning Director,
Anita Adams, on fabulous West End and Broadway songs, the twist is,
everyone is miscast… the result an hilarious and moving

Celebrating Leeds Gathering, this week's Screen Seven movie on Monday 20 November, 8pm,
is The Journey, a
what-if drama about the extraordinary rapprochement between two old
enemies – the DUP’s Ian Paisley and Sinn Féin’s Martin McGuinness. Set
within the Northern Ireland peace process, the film imagines that
Paisley had to make a long car journey to get to his 50th wedding
anniversary party and for reasons of diplomatic protocol, McGuinness travelled
with him.
On Tuesday 21
November, 8pm, it is Café Scientifique -
Antibiotic Resistance. Lars Jeuken and Jonathan Sandoe will
discuss antimicrobial resistance (AMR), how it comes about, the
difficulties of diagnosing infections and how their current research
might help to reduce prescriptions of antimicrobials. Hat donations.
On Wednesday 23
November, 7.45pm, a great concert from JazzLeeds – Arun Ghosh
Quintet. Using the spirit and language of jazz, with
Hip-Hop, Indian Classical and Folk, Western Classical, Rock, Pop and
Avant-garde, Ghosh's music is full of lyrical melodies and searching
harmonies. With support from the Fruit Tree Collective. £16 / £14 conc. Doors 7.30pm
Also part of Leeds Gathering on Friday 24 November, 7.30pm, it is Cronin with Songs of
Shane McGowan. Leeds/Irish brothers Cronin play a special
show for Leeds Gathering. Two sets, one of their own songs and one
the songs of Ireland’s finest legendary songwriter, Shane MacGowan. £10 on the door.
Rounding off the week, Saturday
25 November, 8.30pm, what promises to be another
excellent TumbleweedAmericana - The
Way Down Wanderers. Equal parts fast-paced and soulful,
5-piece modern-folk Americana act, the Wanderers combine folk
with boy-band appeal: a quintet with gorgeous vocals, instrumentals,
some dreads and a whole bunch of youthful energy. £11 adv / £13 otd. Doors
8pm.
