One of the most fascinating mysteries dealing with William Shakespeare is the fact that he left his wife, Anne Hathaway, nothing but his 'second best bed'. This odd bequest has puzzled biographers for centuries. The Second Best Bed, a brilliant one-woman play, full of both humour and pathos, has received great critical acclaim since its premier at the Swan Theatre Worcester in 2012. Liz Grand stars as Anne Hathaway on the night of Shakespeare’s funeral. Dressed in black, Anne Hathaway mourns the death of “our bright star”. But this is no ordinary widow.
