Got all your holiday shopping sorted and not sure what to do this weekend? Here are a few ideas for those of my followers who live in or near to Leeds, London and New York:
Get a

2018 has been an exciting year. We've
seen 78 new venues open in the city and we're not just talking about
bars and restaurants. From zero waste shops to escape games, you've got
oodles of new additions to check out, so as we move into the new year,
why not start working your way through the list?
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Be it for shopping or revels, every man
and his dog will be headed into Leeds this weekend. But what can you do
straight off the train? We've broken it down into two, five and ten
minute walks, so you can make the most of every minute of your visit. The
question is – what will you do first?
|
|
|
Opera North and Phoenix Dance Theatre
have joined forces to present an incredible double bill. You can see
Stravinsky’s controversial ballet, The Rite of Spring, and Puccini’s
mini-masterpiece, Gianni Schicchi, all in one night – and we're giving
away tickets.
|
|
If there's one thing we find ourselves
craving in winter, it's a good old Sunday roast, so we've tried and
tested the city's pubs and restaurants to find you the absolute best.
From city centre hidey-holes to country escapes, why not try them all?
|
|
|
Headingley just got a new Vietnamese
street food joint.
|
|
The best things in life are free – and
by that we mean this cheeky glass of fizz. Head to Curve to get
this festive treat, but hurry, it's only available for one week!
|
|
|
Whether it's a Christmas Day stroll or a
Boxing Day ramble, these winter walks will keep you busy all through the
festive season. But which will you do first when each is as
beautiful as the last?
|
|
|
|
It's that time of year, time to escape
the winter weather by diving inside the nearest boozer. And to help you
do it, we've rounded up the cosiest, comfiest and downright nicest pubs
to go to. You can warm your cockles in front of a roaring fire while you
sup top quality local ales and tuck into proper pub grub. Enjoy!

Weekend Guide
There’s

Make the most out

Short Story Selection
Every
city feels as if it is an entity in and of itself, a being created by the
millions of lives that inhabit it now and have in the past. In this short
story written by Jemisin, we follow a young black homeless man just trying to
survive in NYC.
An older man named
Paulo helps him from time to time, buying him coffee and sandwiches in
exchange for someone to listen to his rants. One morning, Paulo’s rant goes
into the inner workings of the city, how it breathes and is ready for someone
to help it live.
Our main character
is wary of the breathing sounds he hears but assumes being homeless for so
long has warped his mind.

Artist Open Call
AUGMENTED
is a group show focused on the intersection of art and technology, serving as
a metaphor for the augmented self - not seen with the naked eye.
Inspired by your
bodega man’s dreams, this exhibition is a one night only party, held at the
well to do Arlo Nomad. A former Turkish bathhouse turned work of art, turned
chic travelers boarding house.
We’d love for you
and your artwork to be a part of this night!
To submit your
work, download the 3DBrush
App and create a piece that captures your AUGMENTED self.

Finger Frame
We
live in a world where our attention is for sale, and most of us don't even
realize it.
Alex Wolf explores how ideas are classified from weird to normal, and how
consumption has created an industry supported by digital media plantations.
How much does that like mean to you?

Short Story Selection
When
the dreadfully boring Mr. Sorensen passes away, his widowed wife is told she
must live out the rest of her days alone as a widow. But shouldn’t she be
allowed to move on? Find a spark of love that had been absent from her
previous marriage?
Mrs. Sorensen sure
does not believe so, and finds company in a place most others would find
troubling. The local priest does his best to convince her to be nothing. This
strange world is full of odd characters, some of whom are not what you think.
