Brass Bands
Huddersfield (HTH) & Dewsbury Town Halls (DTH)
Royal Northern College of Music Brass Band Ensemble, under the baton of Phillip McCann, present the rousing Christmas Spectacular at both Huddersfield (10 Dec) and Dewsbury Town Hall (12 Dec), and the Huddersfield Boys’ and Girls’ Choirs join Gordon Stewart to captivate with festive music from around the world on Thursday 20 December (HTH).

KAFE: Turning the Page with Sarah Ward

KAFEWriting workshop with crime author Sarah Ward
This workshop is a fantastic opportunity to gain tips from a successful crime fiction author. The workshop will focus on showing participants how to keep a reader turning the pages.
Sarah Ward is author of the DC Childs crime series set in the Derbyshire Peak District. Her books have been described as ‘tense, well-told story of loss and family secrets' and ‘relentless in its grip’. Her novel, A Patient Fury, was The Observer’s Thriller of the Month.
This is a Kirklees Author Forum Exchange event - come along and network with fellow authors and writers. After you book a place, you will be emailed a pre-workshop questionnaire to complete and return.

Bodega are a Brooklyn art punk band under the influence of rock and roll, post punk, contemporary pop, hip-hop, kraut rock, and folk-derived narrative songwriting.

Something for everyone

Christmas can seem very stressful with all the shopping and preparing for the big day, so its nice to take some time to unwind and wrap yourself in festive cheer.  With brass bands, choirs, pantomimes and classical concerts we have something for everyone at our Town Halls.  Here is a whistle stop tour of what's on offer...

Festive brass bands and Christmassy choirs

Brass band fans are in for a treat, with 8 shows to choose from. 
It all begins on 1 December when Hammonds' Band visit Batley. 


Then there will be carols a plenty in Huddersfield when Huddersfield Choral Society and Black Dyke play on 7 December.


Honley Male Voice Choir and Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band will be entertaining us on 8 December. 


Our lunchtime concerts will also take a festive brass theme in Huddersfield on 10 December and Dewsbury on 12 December.  



There's another chance to hear the Black Dyke Band when they perform their Christmas concert in Huddersfield on 14 December or Dewsbury on 16 December. 


Last but by no means least, Colne Valley Male Voice Choir will be performing with the Brighouse and Rastrick band on 16 December.  


Orchestral christmas concerts

On 9 December Huddersfield Philharmonic will be performing snow & ice which includes music from musicals, classical music the music of André Reiu.


Huddersfield Choral Society are performing Christmas classic Handel's Messiah with the Royal Northern Sinfonia on 18 and 19 December at Huddersfield Town Hall


On 20 December in Huddersfield we have a lunchtime concert featuring Gordon Stewart and the Huddersfield girl's and boy's choirs performing music for Christmas. 


Then later on 20 December the Orchestra of Opera North will perform their Christmas concert from 7pm at Dewsbury Town Hall.

Dance into Christmas with our afternoon Tea Dance at Dewsbury Town Hall on 5 December. 


Festive folk

If you are a folk fan there are still a few tickets left for Kate Rusby at Christmas on 9 December.


Hot hits and musical memories

Love Machine Xmas
Then get your groove on with Love Machine at Christmas on 21 December. Enjoy a night of fun up-tempo music which will take you through the decades from the Great American Songbook into the disco era. There'll be some festive favourites too!


On 22 December we welcome Leeds Male Voice Choir to Dewsbury to sing all your favourite Christmas songs, carols and yuletide favourites.


Charity shows and panto

Beauty and the beast
If you fancy some pantomime fun you can watch Beauty and the Beast at Cleckheaton Town Hall on dates throughout December


Support the Mayor's charity and enjoy a Gospel Christmas Concert in Huddersfield on 2 December at Huddersfield Town Hall.


Alternatively enjoy a night of variety with A Taste of Christmas at Batley Town Hall on 14 December.
