On Friday 13th May 7.30pm, Mewl Music – Earl Okin at 75. Earl Okin is probably the UK’s premier Jazz and Bossa Nova singer, as well as being a fine songwriter. His one man show features the Great American Songbook with Earl’s self-accompaniment on piano and guitar, not to mention his legendary ‘vocal-trumpet’ solos. £15 advance / £18 on the door.

This weekend's Pop-up – The Ball Box serves next level meatballs and vegballs, all from a vintage 1930’s horsebox. Friday 13th May from 5pm. Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th from 12 noon.

On Sunday 15th Mayl, 1.30pm,  JazzLeeds – Jazz Main Band. Hailing all the way from Scotland, the Jazz Main band was formed in 2003 by tenor sax player Nick Gould, and plays jazz inspired by the Blue Note classics. £10 full / £8 conc. Under 25s £5.

Also, on Sunday 24th April, 7pm, don't forget the Sunday Quiz,, a great way to excercise those little grey cells and end the weekend with friends and family. £5 per team, with prizes.

I Am Doner are changing the meaning of hump day, serving up camel kebabs every Wednesday. In a nod to its new Arabian outpost, founder Paul Baron has worked with a local food influencer to create a unique recipe putting this Emirati delicacy at the centre of the dish - the spiced and aromatic slow cooked camel rump is accompanied by basmati rice and vegetables and topped with garlic mayonnaise.

Within the decorated stone exterior of this magnificent 19th Century building, you’ll find a light and airy restaurant, with high ceilings and stunning chandeliers. In the daytime, the skylight running the entire length of the main dining room floods the restaurant with natural light. Serving selection of over 70 carefully sourced Spanish wines, as well as delicious tapas, Spanish cheeses, and serrano and Ibérico hams. In this new blog, our Assistant Curator of Vertebrate Biology, Zena Timmons, explores the decline of this bird species, the information revealed by our specimens, and how an extinct species can be recreated through taxidermy.

Edinburgh plays host to an amazing range of festivals throughout the year, and this month is no exception. Jam-packed with an exciting and thrilling programme that’s sure to delight & inspire young minds, The Edinburgh International Children's Festival features the best of children’s theatre & dance from around the world. Returning this month with a full and half marathon, as well as the team relay, Edinburgh Marathon Festival is a great way to raise money for charity and improve your fitness. Or why not soak up the sun while enjoying an array of homegrown performing arts at the 2-day StagEHd Festival

Step aboard The Royal Yacht Britannia and Meet the Yotties, former Royal Yachtsmen on Her Majesty The Queen’s former floating palace. Hear their stories about life on the Royal Yacht as it sailed over one million miles around the globe.
