JazzLeeds presents Mingus
Profiles Sextet. A band inspired by the orchestral colour
and spontaneous feel of Charles Mingus’s small group music, they
explore new directions while continuing to reflect the spirit of that
music. The evening kicks off with a JazzLeeds Orchestra Mingus Workshop
led by Colin Byrne £16

On Friday 20th May,
7.30pm, Call Me Dusty, a
play with music about the life of Dusty Springfield, without doubt the
finest white soul singer of her era. We're sorry, this event is SOLD
OUT.
This weekend's pop-up is Little Red Food Cluck,
new brand from old favourites Little Red Eats servng home made
buttermilk fried chicken, with veggie and vegan options. Friday 20th May from 5pm,
Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd from 12 noon.

21st May 8pm - The John Hackett Band wth
Joanne Harris & The Storytime Band. John Hackett has
been a much-admired figure in the progressive rock scene since the
mid-70’s; best known for his flute work with brother, former Genesis
guitarist, Steve Hackett. Joanne Harris is the internationally
acclaimed author of Chocolat, here performing a live show featuring
tales from her book, Honeycomb, plus image projections and music, £12.
On Sunday 22nd May,
1.30- 4pm, JazzLeeds – ‘Os Caras’ the
Edison Machado project. Os Caras is a dynamic and exciting
Bossa Nova/Samba Jazz octet led by Wakefield based drummer John Settle;
a tribute to a pioneer of the genres, Edison Machado. Doors 1.15pm. Tickets £10 full /
£8 conc. Under 25s £5. Under 16s free.
Also, on Sunday 24th April, 7pm, don't
forget the Sunday Quiz, a
great way to exercise those little grey cells and end the weekend with
friends and family. £5
per team, with prizes.
