The Queen's Platinum Jubilee and extended bank holiday weekend is coming
up soon and there are a number of activities for you to get involved with
in Kirklees.
On Sunday 5 June at 5pm, there will be a special Jubilee concert
at Dewsbury Town Hall. Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by
Musical Director Benjamin Ellin, will perform a selection of proms style
celebratory music mixed with a few favourite songs lead by acclaimed
singer Eleanor Sandars. Concert tickets are £5 plus booking fee, with the
option to enjoy pre-concert refreshments from 3.30pm. Get your tickets
now and join in the fun!
As part
of the celebrations on Thursday 2 June there will be a beacon lighting ceremony
at Castle Hill and on Saturday 4 June you can join in the Jubilee Big
Lunch celebrations at Greenhead Park’s Family Fund Day
- take a picnic and enjoy the street party.
There is
an opportunity
for a musician or band to take to the Greenhead Park
bandstand stage as part of the Jubilee Big Lunch family fun day. The slot
will be from 4pm to 4.45/5pm on Saturday 4th June. If you could fill the
final slot, please contact the organisers by emailing events@kirklees.gov.uk to find
out more.
There are
plenty of other Jubilee activities going on in Kirklees – take a look at
this Jubilee webpage
for a range of events, street parties and activities to do at home.
In the
meantime, there are lots of other creative events and activities in our
newsletter and website – take a look and get creative!
