Mental Health
Awareness Week (May 9 - 15)
It’s Mental Health Awareness Week and there are lots of
activities you can take part in across Kirklees to understand mental
health and to help break the stigma around it.
“Looking back, the cage I was trapped in where I felt
isolated, lonely, and different from everyone else was actually a
cocoon.” – Speaker 1, Joanna
“Depression and Suicidal ideation have plagued my life,
but I finally feel like not only am I living with it, I’m living with
it well and showing my depression that it doesn’t control me.” –
Speaker 2, Jamie
We’re hosting a ‘Human
Library’ 12 May 9:30 – 13:00 at Huddersfield Library.
It will be a unique opportunity to listen and learn about the life
experiences of people who have suffered mental ill health. The event is
free to everyone and aims to challenge stereotypes by having
conversations with human books.
A range of speakers will share their experience of how
they managed their mental health. There will also be mindfulness
activities and free refreshments. Come along to join in the
conversation or to just listen.

is happening for Mental Health Awareness Week.
