With thanks to Country and Townhouse, here are five things you won't want to miss in London this week:
|
The first time I got scammed was in Venice when I fell for the one
of the oldest tricks in the book: the ‘three cup scam’ where someone puts a
ball under one of three cups, moves it round and you guess which cup it’s
under – and put a bet on it. Of course, it’s never under the one you
choose, so you feel like the silly tourist you are when you hand over your
hard-earned cash. But that is nothing compared to what others have been
through. The Tinder Swindler, anyone? Anna Delvey? Sweet Bobby? I for one
(ashamedly) am hopelessly addicted to these terrifying
tales that make for brilliant, if voyeuristic, dramas. Are you?
Have a great week.

WHAT’S
EXCITING ME THIS WEEK

AFFORDABLE
ART
Just as some people look at your shoes to pass instant judgement (rude, but
true), others look at your walls. The art you display supposedly gives
people an insight into your soul… or at least your taste. But you don’t
have to drop millions on a Matisse – here’s
our guide to finding the best affordable art that will impress
the aesthetic snobs out there… (Image: Partnership Editions, Venetia
Berry, Jigsaw, Acrylic on Canvas)

DUNGAREES
Are you ever too old to rock a pair? God no, but pick your style carefully…
You don’t want to look like you’re trying to resemble a) a four year old
toddler in OshKosh or b) Felicity Kendall in The Good Life (actually
I’d love to look like her).... My
pick is from Lucy & Yak, but you decide for yourself. (Image: Lucy

A BRITISH
BREW
Tea is a British institution. But how do you drink yours? I’m a first cup
in the morning and a 4 o’clock in the afternoon girl. My mug of choice is
something you can wrap your hands around but I also can’t resist a
pretty tea set when I’m in company. It adds a true sense of
occasion.
