The Old West
Artist Hannes Schmid has been known in the realm of advertising for years for his photographs for the Marlboro cigarette company.
Now with his solo show at the Mitchell Algus Gallery in Chelsea, Schmid has re-appropriated his photographs as photo-realistic paintings.
The show titled “American Myth: Paintings and Photographs” is a collection of many of his works throughout the years. His subjects are the cowboys of the American West, capturing their leisure time as well as their work wrangling their herds.
Each piece is a stunning moment in American history, fully embodying the culture that is purely American.

Fall in NYC never knew a love quite like this. This season brings many great things, but how many experiences couple both bacon and beer? This year get your food dance and jiggle on in peace in the new location at the USTA Tennis National Tennis Center. Can you savor it?
spoiled Sounds
If you’re looking for an indie band with sounds that soothe, Hypoluxo is here with music that truly embodies the dreamy, washed out feeling of the end of summer.
Great guitar play and cynical but lighthearted vocals pull this band out of NYC obscurity and into the spotlight. They have released multiple EPs, and their playful sounds are something you’d love to have on vinyl.
With lyrics about the struggles of young adulthood, Hypoluxo is a relatable band that makes you feel like you’re not alone dealing with life’s problems.
Turn them up and mellow out. With music like this, life is pretty great.
Apple Picking
If you're a fall aficionado, you need a ticket to your nearest orchard.
There is nothing like walking into the center of an orchard with trees so full of juicy apples.
We've compiled a list of orchards nearest to the city for your reading pleasure.
These farms also sell goodies like apple cider, pumpkins, and other seasonal goods!
Grab A Read
Whether it’s the cause of losing a friend or the reason behind failing memories, time is everything to these old men. As retirees, they seem to have nothing but time on their hands, so they meet up every day to talk and reminisce.
When the leader of their little friend circle, Conrad, believes he’s coming down with Alzheimer’s, things change. Conrad comes to our main character for advice since his wife succumbed to the same disease and died. However, Alzheimer’s may not be the reason behind his failing memories, but something just a bit more terrifying. An unusual cast of characters, Carroll’s story explores topics of old age and life rarely seen in other works.
spoiled Threads
No stranger to the spotlight, especially after rumors have been circling Misha Nonoo is the one who set Prince Harry and Megan Markle up on a blind date, her label, Nonoo, has been gaining attention for other reasons then the Duchess of Sussex, her close friend, wearing her clothes.
She has earned accolades such as finalist in 2013 for the Vogue CDFA Fashion Fund, Forbes 30 Under 30 in Art & Style, and Crain’s New York Business’ 40 under 40.
A global jet-setter, living in Bahrain, London, and Paris, Nonoo eventually settled in New York. All of the clothes she designs are produced in New York, making sure her clothes genuinely have the “Made in York” label. Nonoo’s clothes have a modern and refined elegance to her collections, reminiscent of her time spent in Europe.
Even though she has said she is not designing clothes with the younger generation in mind, her timeless clothing pieces have fans from women in their 20s to their 60s. It should come as no surprise that confident and standout celebrities such as Olivia Munn, Olivia Palermo, and Pippa Middleton have been spotted in her designs.
