Free Range 2018 showcase undergraduate talent at the Old Truman Brewery
About
Free Range returns to the Old Truman Brewery in June 2018 for a five-week summer exhibition showcasing work by over 3000 undergraduates from across the UK. Staged over three floors, a new generation of cutting-edge creative talent will be offered a platform to show works from across fine art, photography, design, interior design and architecture. Now in its 18th year, Free Range is the largest undergraduate degree show open to the public that showcases the extensive and diverse cross-section of work from the UK’s emerging artists and creatives from leading art colleges and universities. The annual exhibition attracts creatives from over 50 top academic and creative institutions, from Edinburgh to Brighton, and aims to provide a platform for artists beyond their education. 2018’s exhibitors will be divided into four categories: fine art, photography, design (including graphic design and fashion design), and interior design & architecture.

Enjoy Summertime in NYC with NYRR
Sponsored by:
If you’re looking for a fun way to stay in shape, boost your confidence, and meet new people while enjoying the city’s summer weather and outdoor sights, we have the perfect solution for you: the NYRR Brooklyn R-U-N 5K!
This 3.1-mile run takes you on a scenic route through Brooklyn’s beautiful Prospect Park, which is easily accessible by public transportation.
Once you’re done savoring the moment, you’ll want to stick around in the park for a bit longer because the fun doesn’t end at the finish line, where runners will receive one of Brooklyn’s own People’s Pops popsicles to cool off. The post-race event will also have food vendors, a DJ, and a bunch of awesome lawn games set up like corn hole and giant Jenga! Because let’s be real, board games are always better when they’re life-sized.

Climbing the Colossus
Whatever you did on Independence Day, it probably wasn’t as remarkable as climbing the Statue of Liberty as an act of protest. That’s just what this woman did.

Follow the Rainbow to Color Factory
Get ready to feel the rainbow! After a successful run in San Francisco, the Color Factory is ready to unpack its vibrant hues in New York City. Opening early August in Soho, the pop-up will feature 20,000 square feet of interactive art installations showcasing artists who work in color. Like its West Coast predecessor, the Color Factory NYC will be a haven for New Yorkers on the hunt for picture-picture Instgramable opportunities.
Already can’t wait? You can add your name to a waiting list for tickets or even head to the Cooper Hewitt in the Upper East Side where a “Color Walk” has been installed in the museum’s garden. Whether you want to do it for the gram or just enjoy some mood-lifting art, we definitely suggest checking out the exhibit to add some color to your life.

A Museum Willy Wonka Would Love
Looking for a major sugar fix? Candytopia, a pop-up candy museum that’s found success in Los Angeles, has announced that it’s coming to New York City this summer. Get ready to fulfill all your Willy Wonka fantasies in this sugar-coated wonderland. Like the original, Candytopia’s NYC installation will feature actual works of art, reimagined using candy — picture Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa in jelly beans or Van Gogh’s Starry Night in licorice.
The museum will also feature the same marshmallow-filled pool West Coast visitors enjoyed, and if that wasn’t enough to make you feel like a kid in a candy store, the exhibit also promises guests sweet treats throughout tours. We’re not going to sugar coat it — it’s going to be pretty sweet.

Why so Grimm?
Man, it’s a HOT one, and we have just what you need to stay cool. Head to Grimm Artisanal Ales to experience an escape from the heat. For the past few years, locally-loved and award-winning Grimm has bounced around different locations but has now set up shop in East Williamsburg! The company serves a variety of beverages including drafts, aged sour beers, wines, ciders, and sodas.
Plus, chow down on some Middle Eastern Food from nearby Samesa while you sip on your ales. Oh, and did we mention they also took first place at the Great American Beer Festival? Consider shawarma and beer a winning combination.

Meet me at Skee Ball
Relive your fave Chuck E Cheese memories and San Junipero fantasies (shout out to all you Black Mirror fans) at one of these awesome arcades!
These chill spaces are the perfect destination to beat the heat and some even double as bars, which means getting tipsy while you’re slinging skee ball or breaking it down to Dance Dance Revolution. Forget the club for one night and definitely check out these spots, besides, who doesn’t love pinball?
