Cleckheaton Writers Group (CWG) Minutes 16 July 2018

With thanks to my fellow CWG member Sarah, here are the minutes for the meeting that took place on the 16th:

CLECKHEATON WRITERS’ GROUP – MINUTES 16.07.2018

In attendance: Gemma, Kathy, Sarah

1. Minutes from the last meeting were agreed.

2. Works in progress:

·         Kathy – no updates

·         Gemma – beta reading a friend’s novel, planning her current work-in-progress

·         Sarah – 37,000 words into her current work-in-progress; submitting her other novel to literary agents. Gemma kindly agreed to beta read Sarah’s book.

3. There was a discussion about naming characters and the different methods group members use.

4. Feedback – no-one had brought anything to read.

5. Events / writing competitions – Bradford Literature Festival, Manchester Literature Festival, Ilkley Literature Festival and the Festival of Writing in York are all either ongoing or coming up. Sarah had attended an excellent crime writing workshop at Bradford Literature Festival.

Exeter Flash Fiction Competition has a deadline of 31 August 2018.

6. Group members were reminded of the writing challenge.

7. There was another discussion about finding time to write, particularly when you were working.

The next meeting is 30 July.
