Festival season is upon us! Whether it’s boundary pushing theatre or family-friendly creativity, festivals offer something for everyone. To celebrate the variety on offer, here’s a run down of some top festivals taking place this summer. So what are you waiting for? Take a look and get involved…

Great Exhibition of the North

22 June-9 September, across the North

Spare Parts Festival

7 and 15 July, Crewe and Fleetwood

The UK’s only Festival dedicated to transport, travel and motion offers free family activities with local and international artists. Alongside the SpareParts Parade which features an array of transport contraptions, characters and collaborations.

BE Festival

3-7 July, Birmingham

A daring and innovative programme of boundary pushing theatre, dance, comedy, circus, music, visual and performing arts, taking place in theatres’ rarely seen backstage areas. Find out more >

SO Festival

31 August-2 September 2018, Lincolnshire

One of the biggest family-friendly cultural outdoor arts festivals in the UK centred in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire. SO Festival brings a fantastic display of outdoor art to the streets of Skegness. Find out more >

Thamesmead 50th Birthday Festival

14 July, Thamesmead

Thamesmead are celebrating their 50th birthday with a festival. Join them for a family day out around Southmere from 12-7pm. The festival will include a community market, carnival and circus acts, a pet show, dance area and much more.

Lovebox and Citadel festivals

​​​​​​​Gunnersbury Park, 13-15 July

​​​​​​​Continental Drifts' Vintage Remix Train will be at Lovebox and Citadel this year. Starting with Electro Blues and pulling up in the No 1 Station of Disco Remix, through soul, electro swing and more. The festival also includes the Antique Beat Hunters DJ Chris Tofu and Fizzy Gillespie, as well as Breakdance, Swing and Tap world champions.

Hat Fair

29 June-1 July, Winchester

Two free days of street theatre and outdoor performances, 2018 is the Hat Fair’s 44th year. With NoFit State Circus and Motionhouse’s thrilling dance-circus collaboration BLOCK headlining on the first night.

9-12 August, Boomtown Festival, Hampshire
