Join us for an evening of spoken word, music and theatre in the cosy warmth of Queenie’s Coffee Shop. Each night features special guests and a chance to take part in our open mic.

BATLEY POETS
Inspired by the Gujarati Writers Forum, The Yorkshire Dialect Group and local poets, the Batley Poets first assembled at the Batley Festival in 2012 and have since gathered a growing number of local poets to share the words and sentences that would otherwise have gone unnoticed.

NIGEL PARSONS
Before his current solo singer/songwriter work, Nigel Parsons performed in bands at many iconic venues; Cavern Club, Wigan Casino, Radio 1 broadcasts, supporting bands as diverse as: The Hollies, Arthur Brown, Dire Straits. His songs cover many subjects: The day after Brexit, Woody Guthrie's new year's resolutions, beachcombing ... His new album Sinistralman is scheduled for release later this year.

The University Big Band are delighted be joined by one of the UK's finest Big Band vocalists, Matthew Ford. Matthew will be performing a selection of his favourite Big Band chart hits.

Pushed to boiling point, these female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot!
9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic.
