Cafe Economique – Beyond Net Zero: What Wartime Britain Can Teach Us About Rapid Social-Ecological Transition.The talk explores why traditional “net zero” strategies are failing and argues for a rapid transition to a sufficiency economy – one that guarantees a decent standard of living for all while setting limits on excessive production and consumption.

Thursday 12th March, 7.30pm, on the way to being sold out, is
JazzLeeds – “The Pocket Ellington” featuring Alan Barnes and Tony Kofi. Born out of a love of the music of the Duke, The Pocket Ellington manages what ought to be impossible. But with Alan Barnes, Tony Kofi, Simon Finch, Alex Webb and David Lalljee on hand, anything is possible.

Friday 13th March (shows at 4pm & 8pm) sees a bold visual aesthetic and striking retro-futuristic audio identity seamlessly melded together into one evocative musical package.

Spring Sessions – Hard Times Orchestra. Jacqui Wicks sings, Richard Ormrod (Schwa, Panjumby, A Dread Supreme) plays lots of useful instruments, and Jonny Flockton (Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip) will sit quietly with in a corner whilst his banjo gently weeps. A class act.

Sunday 15th March, 1.30-4pm, JazzLeeds – QOW Trio a unique multi-generational trio featuring young firebrand saxophonist, Riley Stone Lonergan, British Jazz legend, Spike Wells on drums, and multi-genre bassist and bandleader Eddie Myer, who got together through their mutual love of Sonny Rollins’ classic piano-less trios of the 1950s.
