film & music fans came
together to celebrate Cinema on the square
|
|
|
|
|
|
Our first ever Cinema on the Square took place on Sunday 30 July; a
day of outdoor film screenings that celebrated cinema, music and
summer. Although we didn't get the summer weather we were hoping
for it it did stay dry for the majority of the day with some light
showers at the end of the night which luckily didn't dampen
anyone's spirits. We had a fantastic time chatting to audience
members before the films and want to say a big thank you to
everyone who joined us. We hope to be back next year for Cinema on
the Square 2024 with a new programme of films.

Scalarama
Leeds launches its 2023 festival programme this month in a special
screening at Hyde Park Picture House. Scalarama is a DIY
pop-up film festival celebrating cinema, skill sharing and
community. It takes place every September, nationwide.
The
launch film, Buck And The Preacher is an immensely satisfying
Western which marked Sidney Poitier's directorial debut, as well as
his first screen pairing with superstar Harry Belafonte. It was
widely regarded at the time of its release as Butch Cassidy and the
Sundance Kid with a social conscience.
Guests
will also get a first look at the Scalarama 2023 film festival
trailer and programme of films & events taking place across the
city in September.
