Cleckheaton Writers Group (CWG) met on Monday at Cleckheaton Library with Cassie, Karen and Kathy in attendance, Alice, Reuben, Gemma, Michelle and Paul having passed on their apologies.
The minutes were passed from the last meeting.
WIP updates: Karen has edited chapters thirteen to twenty-one of her rom com Christmas Evie and sent to her editor Cassiel, edited two chapters of WIP Digital Heroin for feedback at SCBWI zoom and her chapter of Half-lands is one of the picked entries to forward to agent Saskia Leach, Kate Nash Literary Agency, as part of the July 2023 SCBWI Slush Pile YA romance/thriller challenge. Kathy has written a poster she will display at Cleckheaton Library for her church open days. She has also finished the articles and blurb on the architecture.
CW comps/workshops/events: Can’t See the Wood for the Trees Creative Writing workshop with Ali Taft Tuesday 12 September 2023 2-4pm Leeds Beckett University (details on LinkedIn/Eventbrite), Birmingham Literature Festival(Karen has brochure)
Writing plans: Karen hopes to do more editing and some writing if time. Kathy will be journaling in New York.
CWG members discussed sense of place in writing, concerts, New York and the film The Lost City of Zee.
Writing challenge: August PRIDE
Because of the Bank Holiday, the next meeting will take place on Monday 4 September and then fortnightly thereafter. New members always welcome.
