Things to do this weekend in Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, London, Scotland, Ireland and more

After having had an amazing night at the judges run through rehearsal at Eurovision Song Contest 2023 yesterday, which I highly recommend (and a visit to the Eurovision Village in Liverpool), here are a few things to do this Eurovision weekend:

Introducing Fearns, Leeds' new all-day kitchen, bar and lounge...

‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Ridiculusmus: the legendary independent “masters of comic invention”

So...

Two long-lost brothers overcome their polarised perception and come together to get something done while sorting through their late mother’s estate. Business, personal matters and the right connection for some vintage technology pepper a joyfully chaotic exchange that somehow embraces everything difficult and wrong in the world and proposes workable solutions that will definitely not “blow you away” but warm the cockles of your battered heart.

Made in lockdown via zoom, it began as Brexit response, became a Covid response and then a lament on separation.

Written and performed by David Woods and Jon Haynes, the co-artistic directors and founders of Ridiculusmus, a 30 year artistic partnership of international acclaim, avant-garde mess and polymathic pursuit of the ever unattainable.

Jersey celebrates 78 years since the end of occupation

Liberate yourself.

This week, Jersey has celebrated 78 years since the end of the island's occupation during WW2. After five years under German rule, islanders were free once again. Almost 80 years later, we still don't take those freedoms for granted. With incredible natural landscapes to explore, a vibrant arts and cultural scene and local food that's as fresh as the sea air, we count ourselves pretty lucky. Why not join us and come and find your own freedom in Jersey this summer?

Rectangle: Rounded Corners: Plan your trip

What does freedom mean to you?

As we celebrate another year of freedom here on our curiously Brit...(ish) island we thought we'd catch up with some of our friendly locals to find out what freedom means to them and how they find it in our small, but perfectly formed, nine by five miles. Perhaps their answers will inspire your next island adventure...

Rectangle: Rounded Corners: Get inspired

The inside scoop:

Healing Waves.

This month, we chatted to Dom and Max from Healing Waves, a surf therapy centre in St. Ouen's Bay helping individuals with additional needs access the ocean in a safe way. They said 'seeing the freedom that our sessions gives our athletes and their families is one of the most rewarding aspects of our work.' Find out more about Healing Waves and what Dom and Max love most about island life.
