Barber B back @ Seven


Tomorrow, Wednesday 17th May, 6-7.15pm, it's Rush Hour Jazz – Richard Ormrod and Colin Byrne. Two big band leaders – Richard runs Dales Jam; Colin runs Leeds Jazz Orchestra, Pan Jumby, Hard Times Orchestra, Bassa Bassa, Tshok etc. There will be great tunes played! Seven Bar PWYF.

A special treat on Thursday 18th May, for one night only, professional chefs, Dijon Boys present a modern Filipino dining experience at Seven Arts. Table bookings from 5.30pm – 8.30pm. Contact Jamie, Dijon Boys on 07474689896.

This coming weekend our Pop-Up Braizin Squad serving low & slow braising, roasting, and fire cooking, brings unusual tastes to the table to delight and challenge your palate. Veggie options available. Friday 19th May 5-8, Saturday 20th May 12-8 and Sunday 21st May 12-5.

On Friday 19th May 7.30pm, another chance to catch Barber B – A Play of Sorts. Barber B tells the extraordinary tale of how he created a renowned hair studio and training academy after teaching himself his craft. Not to be missed. Doors 7pm.  £10.

Mewl Music returns with Katie Spencer w/ support from Harry Orme on Saturday 20th May 7:30 pm. Katie Spencer’s widely celebrated new album The Edge of the Land (2022) follows her debut release, Weather Beaten (2019), praised for its unique song-craft, intricate musicianship and crystal sonic clarity. Adv. £12.50; Door £15

On Sunday 21st May, 1.30-4pm, JazzLeeds – Dave Hassell’s “Hydra”. This Manchester percussionist has over 50 years’ experience as a studio session player, live performer and band leader, This is his first time at Seven Arts with his trio, Dave on drums, Andy Scott sax and Nik Svarc guitar. £12 /£10 conc.

Also on Sunday 21st May 7pm, the Seven Quiz,  this and every Sunday, is a great way to stretch those little grey cells and compete in a friendly atmosphere with friends and family. £5 / team. Seven Bar. With prizes.

Coming up next week on Wednesday 24th May, 7.30pm, South Asian Arts UK – Music of Courtesans: Ode to Chanda Bai. In this spectacular tale of love, tragedy, and betrayal told through the power of song and poetry in this musical theatre performance, you are promised an exhilarating evening with thrill and adventure at every turn. Tickets: £22, £15, £6 (Under 30)

Rounding off this webmail, on Thursday 25th May, 8pm as part of Leeds Jazz Festival, Xero Slingsby celebration film “Shove It”. This film directed by Robert Crampton, celebrates the short but stellar life and career of larger-than-life character, Leeds saxophonist Matthew Coe AKA Xero Slingsby, lovingly chronicled by his bandmates, friends and family. £10 / £8
