Dear,
This week I’m obsessing over Chris van Tullekan’s mind-blowing new
book Ultra Processed People.
If you have children, you’ll no doubt recognise him as one of the
twin doctors from brilliant kids’ medical programme Operation Ouch,
but in his groundbreaking book (which reads like the scariest thriller), he
dives deep into how our food (or at least seventy to eighty percent of it)
is killing us. It is utterly devastating, yet also a reminder
that these ultra processed foods (from Pringles and oven pizzas
to colas and protein bars) were created to resemble food through
smell, texture and taste, but are ticking time bombs for our health. Read
it. It might just change your life.
Plus, if you missed it last week, please
spend a few minutes filling in our reader
survey for your chance to win business class flights with
Malaysia Airlines and a four-night stay at The Datai Langkawi.

WHAT’S
EXCITING ME THIS WEEK

OPERA
SEASON
Is there anything more quintessentially English than outdoor opera, hampers
and picnic rugs? Glyndebourne is the operatic jewel in the crown but if you
don’t want to pack your own, the dining
there itself is stupendous, plus don’t miss our what
to wear guide.

PARIS
SETTING THE SUSTAINABLE PACE
With the 2024 Olympics approaching, Paris is getting serious about being
able to swim
in the Seine with a massive clean up project afoot. Can this
influence us getting our act together for the Thames? One must hope.
