n 4-weeks we’ll build main
characters, their friends, family and enemies. Some of them might
even be humans from the planet Earth or beings living among those
humans. Some will live in distant worlds, in other universes. Some
will live in a Middle Earth clone, in Faeryland, on Olympus or
across the River Styx. We’ll build them, too.

Crafting
a Captivating Submission Package with Katie McCoach
|
June 20 - July 18
|
Katie McCoach, developmental
editor and book coach, takes you through the core elements that
will take your submission package from “will consider” to “MUST
HAVE NOW.” She’ll not only discuss the must-dos and the must-nots,
but also what makes an agent compelled to read more and how to
apply that to your work. Many of Katie’s authors have had success
getting requests from agents, offers of rep, and even pub deals.

Meet the
instructor:
Cassandra Carr!
|
|
Cassandra Carr is a multi-award
winning writer. When not writing, she enjoys watching hockey and
hanging out online. Cassandra's books have won numerous "Best
Book Of" awards and her novella Power Shift was nominated in
the E-book Erotic Romance category of the RT Reviewers' Choice
Awards. She thinks the best part of being a writer is penning
stories about love and sex while most others struggle with
commutes, micro-managing bosses and cranky co-workers.
|
|
|
|
|
What
previous attendees say about Cassandra's classes:
|
|
|
|
|
The
lectures are clear and practical, with actionable advice. I've
been writing for some time but have never dabbled in romance, and
found the course laid out useful romance-specific tips and
tricks. I'll definitely consider taking more Cassandra Carr
courses in the future. ~ Chico

New
features in 2022 for SavvyAuthors: Summer Slackers Book Club
|
|

|
Spring may have sprung but it's
still freezing and blowing sleet here in Northern Illinois!
But at Savvy
we're planning for the summer. We've put our heads together and
decided that we needed a new event this summer that was closely
aligned with the goals that most of us have for those warm summer
afternoons: pools, naps, and reading! So this year we're going to
be channeling Oprah to read and discuss the books that you find
the most useful, challenging, fun, or all three!

because of the wide variety of ways offered to approach writing.

What’s your story about? When
people ask this question, they are interested in the concept behind
it, the idea that makes it intriguing. They want an answer that
raises questions and suggests possibilities. Peter will help you
tease out a concise concept so you can communicate it effectively!

Keys to Crafting Scene Level Drama with
Kris Kennedy
|
|
You’ve got a great story with
awesome characters yet, somehow, it’s sagging. Your wonderful
characters aren’t exploding off the page...at least not after the
opening chapters. Your scenes aren’t taking off. The story feels
flat. What’s going on?

What
previous attendees say about Kris's classes:
|
|
|
|
|
This is
an AMAZING class!
Not only is Kris
the most engaging, thoughtful and competent instructor
imaginable, she also shifted my mindset regarding
"backstory" by 180°, taught me to "see" that
backstory IS story, and she provided tons of tools and exercises
to get the job done.
I enjoyed every
single sentence in this class and learned WAY more about writing
than just the nuts and bolts of "backstory".
Fully and
wholeheartedly recommended!. ~ Ariadne
