Creative Kirklees
Newsletter 31 May 2022
|
Our
newsletter this week has lots of ideas for how you can join in the
Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations over the bank holiday weekend.
There are events and activities galore taking place across Kirklees –
just take a look at the Jubilee Webpage
to see what’s going on near you.
Kirklees
Council will be marking the occasion with a beacon
lighting ceremony at Castle Hill on Thursday evening
with the Mayor of Kirklees lighting the beacon. The event includes
a number of beautiful musical performances beforehand. On Saturday you
can join in Greenhead Park’s FREE Family Fun
Day and enjoy all the street entertainment on
offer. On Sunday, you can enjoy a Last Night of the Proms style
concert by Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra in
Dewsbury Town Hall for just £5. These are just a few ideas for you
– do check out the website for a whole lot more and see more as you
scroll down the newsletter.
There are
lots of other things you can get up to over the coming week aswell.
There is a great selection of films to watch from Holmfirth Film Festival
and the LBT and
there’s another chance to have a behind the scenes tour at the LBT
on Saturday. Scroll down to see more ideas.
For those
of you who want to get “hands on” creative, there are some fabulous new
courses starting up at Globe Arts in
Slaithwaite and West
Yorkshire Print Workshop in Mirfield– we’re sure
you’ll find something that appeals to you.
Have a
great bank holiday everyone – we are keeping our fingers crossed for a
little bit of sunshine to add to the celebrations!
