Apologies to all my followers as I have not been able to blog since catching Covid last week. I had a hospital procedure on the Wednesday and the pre meds etc. must have laid low my immune system as I tested positive for Covid on the Thursday and have been poorly ever since.
Today I tested negative, and I feel well enough to at least tackle my mountain of missed emails and catching up on my blog. I have posted my planned blog posts and should be back to normal now.
So, first, up, details of the upcoming York Festival

Everything is about to begin! We
are so excited to be back!
York Literature Festival returns, running from Friday 18th to Sunday
27th March 2022.
The festival starts with a very special event with
novelist Sarah Hall who
will be in conversation about her career and her new book,
Burntcoat. Join us at the new Creative Centre, York St John
University, for this chance to listen and engage with one of the
most acclaimed contemporary writers in the UK!
On the opening weekend we are also delighted to be
hosting York-based novelist Sarah Maine on
Saturday 19th March at St Peter's School. Sarah will be
reading from and discussing her latest novel, The Awakenings.
Join Jonathan Calvert and George Arbuthnott - from
The Sunday Times' renowned Insight investigative team - as
they recount the extraordinary decisions taken at the heart of
government during the Coronavirus pandemic. Join us for an
insightful event on Monday 21st March to celebrate their book Failures of State.
We have a fantastic event celebrating gigs, music venues and
music memoir, at The Fulford Arms. This
is a new venue and event concept for York Literature Festival and
we are excited to include it in this year's programme. There
will be a panel discussion about gig promotion and
venues followed by a reading and conversation with author Lucy
Nichol about her novel The
Twenty Seven Club, before we finish with live music and
spoken word performance. It
should be a great event.
Magid
Magid - Green Party MEP and ex Lord Mayor
of Sheffield - will also be discussing The Art of Disruption on
25th March. Magid will be in conversation about the book which is a
manifesto for real societal change.
The festival continues in the second weekend
with events including Helen Mort discussing
her new book A
Line Above the Sky: On Mountains and Motherhood on
Mother's Day itself, Sunday 27th March. Val McDermid
will be at St Peter's School to discuss her latest crime novel 1979; and
the festival concludes at The Crescent, with an evening of spoken
word performance in collaboration with Say Owt, featuring the poet Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan.
We are also hosting poetry workshops around tenderness
and photographs and
a selection of other events.
The full programme is now available for you to consider and can be
found here where
you can also download an online copy of the brochure.
Our What's On
page contains all the relevant links to tickets for each
event.
Please keep an eye on our website and
Twitter account for more information. We are so pleased to be back
and we hope you can join us soon.

York Literature Festival
and Covid
While we are delighted to be returning to face to
face events, the safety of our artists, audiences, partners, staff
and volunteers remains a priority. Although covid safety measures
are no longer government mandated, we ask that you do not attend
events if you have symptoms of covid, or are currently
testing positive for the infection.
If you are able to, please wear a face covering and
use hand sanitiser when attending events.
We want everyone to enjoy our events feeling as safe
as possible. We hope that continuing to observe risk-reducing
measures will enable all our attendees to feel safe and
reassured.
