Something for everyone this week at Seven : comedy from three stars
definitely on the rise, jazz compositions inspired by the landscape of
SW Scotland, authentic British 80s synth pop or you just fancy some
Italian street food.
Today, Wednesday
30th March, 8pm, Silky & Friends
presents headliner, Scott Bennett, delivering wry observations on the
absurdity of modern living, plus Raul Kohli, 'superb political comedy’
(The Scotsman) with
surreal storytelling,and Kelly Edgar, finalist in the Funny Women Stage
Awards 2020. And, Silky as host. Hurry....just
a few tickets left £12/ £10.
On Thursday 31st
March, 7.30pm, look forward to JazzLeeds – Ben Crosland’s
‘Solway Stories’. His compositions were inspired by a visit
he made to the South West of Scotland. “We were captivated by the
gorgeous landscape and engaging place names” recalls Crosland. £16 full / £14 conc. Under 25s
£8.
On Saturday 2nd April,
7.30pm, a real treat in the guise of Mewl Music – Fiat Lux.
Formed in Wakefield, part of the first wave of British synth pop, Fiat
Lux toured the UK and Europe in the company Blancmange, Howard
Jones, Nik Kershaw, John Cale and Level 42. Then they split. When
Universal began a 21st century programme of remastering and
re-releasing their back catalogue they reformed. £12.50 / £15 on the door. Doors
7pm.
The Sunday jazz concert on Sunday
3rd April, 1.30-4pm, is JazzLeeds – ARQ (Alison
Rayner Quartet). Alison Rayner has been a leading light of
British jazz for over 30 years, with strong heartwarming tunes and
incisive improvising and musical influences from around the world. £10
full / £8 conc. Under 25s £5. Doors 1.15pm.
Also, this
and every Sunday at
7pm, the Sunday Quiz, is
a great way to end the weekend with friends and family. £5 per team, with prizes.
Food-wise, we're starting our season of weekend outdoor pop-ups on Friday 1st April, 5pm
with Luigi’s Street Food
Italiano, serving fabulous Italian street food for eating in
and takeaway. Also Saturday
2nd – Sunday 3rd April from 12 noon.
And, don't forget, Seven has teamed up with Canteen, this week Wednesday- Thursday, fin
house at Seven so your favourite pizzas can be ordered to eat in, or
take away.
