Huddersfield Literature Festival 29 March - 2 April 2022

With details of events taking place this week:

A Spoonful of Murder
Today 29 March 7:00 pm

Have you missed spending time with friends and family recently, maybe you don't see them as much as you used to?

Then why not treat yourself and them to this fantastically fun social event? You can even book a ticket with a hot drink and cake!

If you are a fan of cosy crime novels such as The Thursday Murder Club or TV dramas such as Death in Paradise you'll love this talk with the author of A Spoonful of Murder!

Writing real lives in Historical Fiction

Wed 30 Mar, 7:30 pm

This event is a must for anyone working on a novel or interested in creative writing, especially if you are interested in historical novels and/or 20th-century art.

Stephen May, the author of Sell Us the Rope, will be discussing the pleasures and challenges of writing historical fiction about real people, along with Devika Ponnambalam, author of I Am Not Your Eve, which tells the story of Teha’amana, the 13-year-old girl sold to the artist Paul Gaugin in Tahiti.

So if this is the kind of writing you enjoy come along and get some tips for writing real people into your novel.

Indian Tales of Love and Wisdom
Thu 31 March 7:30 pm

We love to present author talks, but we also love to present storytelling in other ways, such as poetry, music and dance.

This will be a rich, cultural evening of Indian dance, music and stories with the magical Annapurna Indian dancers.

Storytellers Indrani Datta and Sarvani Yadavalli will explore nature, love and universality through the works of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore and Indian classical mythology.
