FREE events at Huddersfield Literature Festival, tonight and Saturday

Adventures Around Our Blue and Green Planet

Sat 26 March 2:00 pm

 

Discover what makes Earth so special and experience what it looks, feels, tastes smells and sounds like in some of the world’s most extreme places.

This highly interactive event is perfect for families and children over 7 so, get ready to pull on a backpack, lace up your hiking boots and set off on an amazing and thrilling adventure around our wonderful world!

STAFFLEX FREE FAMILY DAY

Sat 26 Mar, 11:00 am–2:00 pm
North Huddersfield Trust School 

Doors open at 11:00am:
Arrive through the main entrance and make your way to a range of local information stalls, pop-up bookshops, creative activities, young people's art and poetry exhibitions, and interactive entertainment 

12 noon-12.30pm:
Magician Marvin presents Recycle Magic, a fun show that promotes positive environmental messages, from recycling and energy conservation to global warming and pollution. With jaw-dropping magic and help from puppet Billy the Bird!

1.15pm-1.45pm:
Bhangra demonstration with Hardeep Sahota, the West Yorkshire-based creator of World Bhangra Day and author of Bhangra: Mystics, Music and Migration.

1:45pm:
Young People's Art Exhibition - Prize

PLUS
Throughout the day there will be local stalls, creative activities and impromptu performance poetry and storytelling with celebrated local peace poet and author (latest book: Read Aloud Proudly) Donavan Christopher, AKA Rappaman.

AND....
Join award-winning children’s authors Salma Zaman and Thom Craigen for fun, interactive colouring activities that explore dream jobs and career aspirations, based on their I Can Do Anything Colouring Book – and enter an exciting colouring competition to win free books!
