Creative Kirklees
Newsletter 16 March 2022
|
Welcome
to this week's newsletter! We are a day late this week but still
have much to share with you. Here we highlight a few 'tasters' of
what's going on this week and in the coming weeks, but please do check
out the Creative Kirklees Website
to see everything else on offer.
It's not
too late to go along to 'Introducing
the Scottish Colourists' who will be holding
their March and subsequent lectures in person at the University once
again. These lectures begin tomorrow evening (Thursday 17th
March). Take a look at the link for more information.
Inspired
by Huddersfield’s Irish community, local theatre company Chol has created
An Irish Welcome,
a play which celebrates the town’s Irish heritage. This brand new
production has been written by Chol, and is entirely based on the stories
and experiences of those linked to the Irish Centre on Fitzwilliam
Street. Come along - it's at 7pm this Friday 18th March.
Additionally, and in line with this Irish theme - we highlight the much
aniticipated St Patrick's Day celebrations on Sunday 20th March.
Take a look here Huddersfield St Patrick's
Day Parade to see the plans for this special day!
I'm sure
the Ukraine crisis resonates with us all and in support of this crisis,
Creative Kirklees have many fundrasiing events taking place on the
wesbite including the ongoing Art Exchange for Ukraine.
Please feel free to share and support if you can.
Beam have
a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making the
arts more diverse and more accessible to diverse audiences. They
are seeking to appoint a Diverse Artist
Network Co-ordinator to kickstart a new project
focused on equality, diversity and inclusion in the public art
sector. So, if this sounds right up your street - then follow the
link for more information on how to apply!
In the
news - check out our Kirklees Tourism Survey.
Kirklees Council are asking residents, visitors, students and businesses
to share their views on the tourism offer in Kirklees. Please take
a look and share around.
Do
remember to check out what’s coming up at Huddersfield Literature
Festival (24 March–3 April). There’s a great selection of
activities to choose from!
We wish
you a wonderfully creative week!
