edge-of-your-seat production of The Turn of the
Screw opens
soon.
Britten's
chilling opera combines menacing
spirits, a paranoid Governess and the
possessed wards she has vowed to
protect to nail-biting effect. But are
the phantoms real, or is it all in the
Governess’ fevered imagination?

Did
you know that the premiere of The
Turn of the Screw almost didn't
happen? From an unforeseen operation to
striking stage crews, the production
was cursed with difficulties.
Thankfully, the opera successfully
premiered in 1954 and today is the
second-most performed opera in English
worldwide.
|
Street Scene
Our
brand new production of Kurt Weill's
great American opera is set in stifling
1940s New York, and centres around the
eclectic residents of a single
apartment block.
The
score blends opera with the golden age
of Broadway, and features such hit
numbers as 'Lonely House' and
'Moon-faced, Starry-eyed'.

The Marriage of Figaro

trouble clouds the horizon. Mozart’s
joyous farce of mistaken identity is
bursting at the seams with wit and
invention in this hit production.
