DORSET BUZZING WITH NEW BEES
As a third
of the world remains on lock down, the world’s other (and
arguably more important) species are enjoying some extra freedom.
In a survey at Silverlake in Dorset
conducted by Bryan Edwards from the Dorset Environmental
Records Centre (DERC), 17 new bee species and four new wasp
species have been recorded. The UK has seen a huge decline in
both species in recent years and the survey proves that effective
management of habitats can help these populations to thrive.
