Tom Cutler:
Keep
Clear - My Adventures with Asperger's
Thursday 12 March 6pm
Age guidance 12+
Huddersfield Library, Princess Walk,
Huddersfield, HD1 2SU
A
wonderfully bittersweet, funnystrange account of living
unwittingly with Asperger’s syndrome. Diagnosed aged 56, Tom
Cutler finally made sense of his social awkwardness and his weird
obsessions with road-sign design, magic tricks, gyroscopes, and
Sherlock Holmes.
Like many with
Asperger’s, Tom possesses great facility with words,
and this shines through his
exceptionally
warm, funny and moving memoir.

The Poetry of Mindfulness
EXTRA TICKETS ADDED!
Saturday 28 March 4.30pm-5.30pm
Small Seeds, 120 New Street, Castlegate, HD1 2UD
Age guidance 16+
Poetry is a powerful and thoughtful way of
connecting with the experience of mindfulness. In this session,
local mindfulness teachers from Beginner’s Mind present an hour’s
selection of poems with a mindful theme, ranging from Rumi to
Rose Milligan, stopping off for a spot of Simon Armitage and
Nadine Stair (among others) along the way. The poems are
interspersed with short talks outlining what mindfulness is, why
it works and some fully guided meditation.
All
welcome! This session is a good introduction to mindfulness for
anyone who has not practiced it before, and will provide a
thought-provoking and relaxing hour spent exploring being in the
present moment, via the medium of poetry.
