Cleckheaton Writers Group

Cleckheaton Writers Group (CWG) met on Monday evening, 16 March 2020 at Cleckheaton Library with Barbara, Karen and Sam in attendance, Mandy, Sarah, Daniel, Janet, Mark, Alice, Gemma, Cassie and Julia having passed on their apologies.

The minutes from the last meeting were passed.

WIP updates: Karen has written more chapters for her WIPs Half-lands and Undercover, entered the Phoebe Morgan Twitter writing competition, edited the first 10k of Half-lands, written the writing challenge Caught and entered it into the Grazia writing competition. Sam has been planning his WIP. Barbara has written a poem about why she had not written which she had brought along for feedback.

Feedback sessions: Barbara shared her short poem The Curveball which was written in an angry response but when read out came across as amusing black comedy. It was very well received. She is also a fair way into her 'Diary' WIP and has decided on the ending (Friday 13th). She has it all planned out and shared the first chapter 'The girl in the red coat.'
Karen shared her writing challenge piece 'Caught' which led to a discussion about time-travel writing.

CW comps/workshops/events: As most workshops and events have been cancelled to the coronavirus there were none to share.

The next planned CWG meeting will take place on Monday 30 March if the Library is not closed due to Covid-19.
