President Barack H. Obama Avenue
One
hundred forty thousand signees have requested that the street in front of
Trump Tower be renamed Barack H. Obama Avenue. The petition launched on
MoveOn had 140,000 signatures by Wednesday, although it only asked for a
maximum of 125,000. Now, it's new is set at 150,000 and once reached, will
prompt it's delivery to Mayor de Blasio.
The part of Fifth
Avenue between 56th and 57th streets will be labeled "President Barack
H. Obama Avenue," if all is approved. The linguistic structure behind
street names, landmarks, and beacons in New York City have always been signs
of our solidarity and heart as a city. This change would mark yet another
social shift in politics during a time marked with divide and concern for
equality.

Cheap NYC Stays Return
A
vacation doesn't have to be dingy, risky, or illegal to be affordable in NYC.
Thanks to a new bill that would validate hostels as a classification in New
York, the cheap travel option could make a return making stays for less a
possibility. Due to the financially competitive price of tourism in the Big
Apple, staying here has become an expensive ordeal attainable only to those
privileged enough to afford it.
The deterring
pricing makes visits possible for a smaller percentage of people, which is
what council people Mark Gjonaj and Margaret Chin hope to change. After the
decade long battle, if approved, this bill could usher in a modest form of
tourism once again.

New York Life Photographed
Artist
Elle Perez's art series, "From Sun to Sun," has launched across the
boroughs. The Public Art Fund series is a photo exploration housed in NYC bus
shelters. As if they were small galleries or art museums independent of the
space around them, each stop stands wrapped in a photo.
The 16 different
images explore the seemingly mundane moments in the city. NYC communities are
the focus of Perez's candid photography. The work provides an intimate look
at everyday life. 13 neighborhoods such as East Harlem, Parchester, and
Bed-Stuy are participating in the exhibition.

Hello
New York,
We love the edge
of classic NYC living, excluding the strange architecture of cramped
apartments. Is a bathtub
in the living room crossing the line? 🛀📺
What should the
city do with the desolate lots that linger throughout? Well, AIANY wants to
turn them into affordable
housing! 💰🏡
Party-goers can’t
always make it outdoors to mingle, especially during the summer heat. Let’s
check out the best indoor
venues that give serious outdoor vibes instead. 🍹🌞
Classic sitcoms
set in the city always feature a personality-packed cast of roommates and
that’s a reality for many New Yorkers. How
much does it actually save you if you live with mates? 💵🏙

Netflix and Bathe
There
is a mistakable sparkle in New York architecture. The real estate echoes of
the city's rich history in unexpected ways like a tuberculosis window or a
living room with a tub. Why invest anywhere else and lose the chance to soak
in bubbles and converse with guests at the same time?
Why enjoy your
bedroom if it doesn't have a revealing window that looks straight into the
kitchen? We don't know. Apparently, these features are worth every penny of
the $1,900 rent it requests.

New Housing Plans
If
there were only a handful of unused lots in NYC, they might go unnoticed but
there are an astonishing 10,000. This space could prove life-changing for
many looking for affordable living. Only If Architecture used the exhibition
to display winning propositions to alleviate the housing issues in NYC.
Their models
featured four-story buildings with accessible units and tiny apartments. The
Greenwich gallery exhibition is showcasing the finalists from their open call
for their Big Deals for Small Lots design competition. The designs combine
compact function, aesthetic and costs in order to pitch possible housing for
the future.

Fun Without the Sun
The
weather hasn't been dependable lately with stretches of heatwave temperatures
scorching sidewalks followed by bouts of rain. The safest way to enjoy the
dwindling summertime is with indoor accommodations. That's why it's useful to
be aware of the best indoor venues serving up yummy food, drinks, and
entertainment in safe, cool, comfortable surroundings.
These venues
combine fun designs with fresh menus to deliver the right vibe each time you
visit. Expect to get competitive with games, chow down on grilled BBQ, sip on
fresh and fruity cocktails and do it all in a temperature-controlled airy
environment.

Money in the Bank
So
you want to live solo and enjoy the perks of absolute seclusion at home?
Well, be prepared to dish out an excess of $12,600 every year. It may not
seem like too much to pay for that level of peace but for some, that's an
entire vacation budget.
New York City
ranks as the second most expensive city in the U.S for solitary renters.
Committing to a two-bedroom apartment with a roommate can save you almost
$1,000 every month as opposed to renting alone. If only we could charge our
pets for their stay.
