“Ever heard the theory that there are an
infinite number of universes out there, and infinite versions of each
of us? Well, it’s handy to think about books that way too. There are an
infinite number of ways a story can be told, and how it ends up depends
entirely on the people working on it.”
Author Kate Dylan discusses the
editing process, and why edits should always be a conversation.

even harder. Listen to what works for others, evaluate, and then choose
your own path.”
We spoke with author Mary

All attendees will gain an understanding of how the non-fiction book

What’s your relationship with the editing
process?
|
|
|
|
“The first draft is an un-crafted piece of work […] It’s
where I put my premise to the test and where I find out whether the
things I want my characters to say and do coincide with what they want to
say and do.”
Claudia
Cruttwell takes some time away
from working on yet another manuscript re-write to provide an account of
her relationship with the editing process...

“The more recognition the story is
given, the more I doubt myself. Will my career as a writer be achieved,
to use Kit DeWaal’s phrase, by ‘dipping my pen in someone else’s
blood’?”
After signing with an agent and being shortlisted for a fiction award
in a matter of weeks, Nicola
Garrard takes some time out to reflect on the ethics of
writing fiction.
